The Vermont Residential Building Energy Standard (VT RBES) was updated and put into effect in July of 2024. In September of 2025, Governor Phil Scott issued an Executive Order allowing Builders and Construction Professionals the option to comply with either the 2024 OR 2020 versions of the VT RBES. How does this all really sugar out in the real world? This event will cover what Construction Professionals need to know to comply with either code, and more importantly how to adopt practical assemblies that mitigate risk and result in durable building systems. Learn how energy moves through buildings, how control layers function, and how building envelope performance impacts mechanical system design. There will be plenty of time for detailed discussion.
Presented by: Steve Spatz, Efficiency Vermont’s Trade Ally & Training Manager, delivers technical training on building science and building systems for the residential market, focusing on codes, building envelope assemblies, moisture management, and mechanicals. He brings 15 years of experience from his own construction and energy consulting business in central VT, where he worked before joining Efficiency Vermont as an Energy Consultant in 2015.
